In these hours, millions of WordPress sites are being targeted by the hacking attack, in an attempt to identify passwords and gain access to accounts.
Thousands of PCs are trying to access WordPress sites with username “admin”, the common one set during installation and with more than a thousand passwords commonly used by users.
Most of the time this system works and blogs can be infected without system administrators and owners noticing.
Even CloudFlare, the well-known American company that also protects against potential attacks on sites covered by its network, declares that HostGator has registered more than 90,000 IPs trying to access its customers’ WordPress, a very large bruteforce!
To maintain security on your sites, we recommend that you:
- change the password to access the administration area, avoiding too simple passwords
- change the username used for login, differentiating it from the classic “admin”.
- relax because, thanks to the Shellrent platform specially configured for WordPress, there is no attack that can hold up!
