In this lesson I’ll explain how to use Facebook Ads, i.e. promoting your articles with paid Facebook.
As already mentioned in the previous lessons, Facebook is an excellent showcase on which to share your newly published articles: it is the most popular social network in Italy and makes it possible to obtain considerable visibility.
That’s why I made you create your blog’s Facebook fanpage. Now it’s about taking full advantage of its potential and giving your posts that extra nudge.
In fact, giving relevance to Facebook posts isn’t as easy as it once was. First of all due to the increasing use by users (who with all the likes left have the wall clogged) and the growing advertising that steals the show from normal posts. Secondly, recently the social network has changed the cards on the table, so as to ensure higher quality content for its users. An understandable choice: considering that nowadays every company has a fanpage, making the game easy for everyone would mean submerging the users’ wall with advertising.
Why promote blog posts on Facebook for a fee
As they say: if you can’t fight them, join them. The very advertising that caused the problem can be the solution, just adopt it as a strategy for promoting your articles.
Facebook offers a page or post promotion function, which is divided into different rates depending on the expected volume of traffic generated. We are talking about a paid instrument, but also with a flexibility that suits all budgets, as it lets you decide in advance how much you want to spend.
To better understand this elasticity, I’ll give you an example. I recently wanted to seehow to use Facebook Ads, so I decided to advertise an article that I posted on the blog of my SOS WP site . Initially I started with the rate of 4 euros and waited to see the result. Why spend more when you are unsure? Shortly thereafter, however, there was a clear increase in traffic on the site. At this point I switched to a higher rate, registering a success again. So I continued to increase, gradually up to 100 euros with excellent results.
Don’t be afraid of paid advertising
I told you about my experience because many – especially those who have just started a blog – are frightened by hearing about paid advertising and above all they do not knowhow Facebook Ads works. In reality, it could very well be a small initial investment: try the lowest rate and observe the progress of your blog. If you see a positive result, you can continue promoting your articles with paid Facebook, just like I did.
Of course the target is not targeted as in the case of an ad hoc campaign, but it’s all traffic that you can convert.
Proceeding for subsequent steps, starting from only a small amount, will allow you to test the actual benefit of advertising on Facebook and calibrate your goals accordingly.
How Facebook Ads works
Once connected to Facebook Ads , click on Create an Advert . The first step is to choose the goal of your Facebook advertising from those listed. For example if you want to push your posts, promote your fanpage, increase conversions or increase traffic to your blog.
Once the goal has been chosen, it’s time to get into the strategy part with the use of Facebook Ads. First of all, Facebook Ads lets you decide which target you want to reach, in terms of geographic location, age, gender, language and interests. This is a very important aspect, which you need to think carefully in order to optimize your advertising and maximize your investment.
Then you have to set your daily budget, or the rate you intend to spend with your advertising. As mentioned above, start from the minimum (4 euros) and see how it goes. Here you can also choose when to show advertising, thinking about the habits of your target.
Finally you have to customize the appearance of the ad, choosing the format and which image + text to use.
Once all this is done, confirm. Your blog is now advertised on Facebook.
Now that you understand how to use Facebook Ads, are you ready to try it to promote your posts? This is the first step in monetizing your business. If you want to find out what all the possibilities are to make money with your website, follow the next lesson .
